2025 Marketing Predictions

Marketing has changed. Are you ready?

My marketing predictions for 2025.

Geez marketing is changing at a fast pace. It’s hard to keep up. There’s new fancy tools, new ways of doing things and everyone, and I mean everyone has an opinion on what marketing you should be doing.

One minute, the strategy you’ve relied on is working perfectly; the next, it’s landing flatter than a pancake.
So, what’s going on?

Several factors are at play, and it’s creating a ripple effect for businesses and brands across industries.

From economic changes to shorter attention spans and AI-driven content overload, here’s my take on what’s going on.

External factors moving the goalposts

The economy and cost of living

With the economy in flux and the cost of living rising, people are being more selective about where they spend their money.

This isn’t just about price – it’s about value.
People are asking, “What am I really getting for this investment?”

Buying decisions are based on Is this Value?

Longer Buying Cycles

Here’s the thing: people are still buying, but the process is slower.
Decisions that used to take a week now stretch out over months.

Businesses need more time to consider their options, do their research, and justify the spend (and get funding).

But slower buying cycles don’t mean people aren’t buying – it just means patience is key & nurturing your client’s through to YES is more important than ever.

Attention spans are shrinking

I don’t know about you, but I swipe up and keep scrolling more than I stop these days.
So when they say, attention spans are shrinking – it’s true!
Whether it’s because of social media, endless notifications, or just an overwhelming amount of content, grabbing (and keeping) attention is becoming a serious challenge.

This means you’ve got to get to the point quickly, make your message count, and keep things engaging. Plain English, Clear Comms are back!

AI = a glut of content

Thanks to AI, there’s more content out there than ever.
That means your audience is sifting through an endless stream of noise. This makes it even harder for brands to stand out.

The world doesn’t need more of the same same boring content. It’s time to shake it up.

Where to from here? My thoughts…

I’ve had many a conversation with business owners who have thrown their hands up in the air – I can’t win!
But you can.
In fact, it’s the perfect opportunity to evolve and make sure your marketing is still hitting the mark.

YOU Are the Key
In a sea of noise, your biggest differentiator is YOU. People buy from people. It’s your voice, your personality, and your expertise that cuts through the clutter. The more you lean into your authentic self and show up in your marketing, the more memorable and relatable you become.

My Prediction: The more you show up exactly how you are in real life – especially in video – the more trust you’ll build with your audience, driving higher engagement and stronger relationships.

Build a Personal Brand
You’ve heard this before, but it’s worth repeating: your personal brand is your superpower. Especially in industries where AI and automation are becoming more common, your personal brand is the human touch people crave. Whether you’re the face of your business or a key player in your company, building a strong personal brand will keep you top of mind.

My Prediction: Your competitors will win more business off you if you don’t show the human element to what you do. So show off your beautiful, weird and wonderful self.

Tell Stories
Facts tell, but stories sell. Sharing personal anecdotes, case studies, or real-world experiences helps people connect with you on an emotional level. And in this age of short attention spans, a well-told story grabs attention far better than a bullet-pointed list of features.

My Prediction: Storytelling will be the key differentiator in your sales success. Brands that master storytelling will see a noticeable boost in conversions and loyalty.

Be Consistent
When you stay consistent, you stay relevant. People trust what’s familiar, and they’re more likely to engage with you if they see you regularly. Consistent doesn’t mean you become a slave to content, it just means you show up when you say you will.

My Prediction: Brands that aren’t consistent will struggle to stay relevant. Especially if you rely on social media to bring clients to your door. A drop in regular content leads to a drop in engagement, visibility,  trust and, eventually, a drop in sales.

Offer Real Value
People are DONE with empty content that doesn’t help them. Every piece of content you put out should focus on offering real value. Solve a problem, answer a question, provide insights. Give your audience something they can take action on, and they’ll keep coming back for more.

My Prediction: Businesses that focus on helping, through engaging, fresh perspectives, win. It’s about standing out with value, not just being part of the content noise.

Don’t Forget to Sell
It’s great to build a relationship and offer value, but don’t forget – you’re still in business. You have to sell. Too many businesses shy away from a direct call to action, but without it, you leave people wondering, “What’s next?” Be clear about how people can work with you, what you’re offering, and how they can take that next step.

My Prediction: The soft sell will reign. Tease, keep them intrigued, and leave them wanting more. Subtlety and curiosity will drive conversions.

Human Interaction Matters
As AI continues to flood the market, human interaction becomes even more valuable.
People want to connect with other people, especially when making important decisions. Whether it’s through customer service, one-on-one consultations, or simply showing your face in video content, don’t lose sight of the human element. It’s what makes people trust you.

My Prediction: Old-school networking will become more important as you compete online. Relationships, local community connections, and profile raising will help businesses thrive. Online communities will thrive. But so will in-person workshops. People are over DIY on their own.

The Bottom Line?

Yes, marketing is shifting. But that doesn’t mean you’re out of options – far from it. By focusing on what makes you uniquely you, telling stories, showing up consistently, and offering real value, you’ll navigate this shift like a pro. Stay adaptable, and remember: even though buying cycles are longer and attention spans are shorter, people are still buying. You just need to be the one they remember.
